Under a framework for North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency we deliver works such as the installation of noise mitigation and vehicle restraint barriers, like these pictured on the A55.

Rampside Sea Wall

In the North West of England we renewed the current sea wall by placing new rock armour wall to ensure it provided protection to the coast for years to come.

Baitings Gate Bridge

This project at Baitings Reservoir saw us marry our knowledge of the water industry with our highways expertise. We replaced the 105m bridge deck and constructed new bearings.

About us

Baitings Gate Bridge, which crosses the upstream end of Baitings Impounding Reservoir near Ripponden, West Yorkshire, required significant structural alterations. The brief for the project included the removal of the existing bridge deck structure, refurbishment of the pier heads where required, and construction of a new deck and bearings, designed and constructed to modern bridge standards. Operational constraints on water level led the team to propose a barge and crane arrangement (both in demolition and construction). The project utilised pre-cast concrete products and Building Information Modelling (BIM) to ensure efficient delivery.

Baitings Gate Bridge

Our first project with North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency was located on the eastbound slip road of the A55 North Wales Coast Road, near St Asaph. The project consisted of the installation of 115m of 2.5m-high noise mitigation barriers to reduce the noise levels heard by nearby residents. The second project was also located on the A55 Holyhead to South of Chester Trunk Road between Junctions 27 and 27a near St Asaph. The scope here consisted of replacing nearly 850m of vehicle restraint barriers in the central reservation.

Our first project with North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency was located on the eastbound slip road of the A55 North Wales Coast Road, near St Asaph. Work included the removal of nearly 150m of existing concrete wall; tie-in to existing concrete; the extension of current drainage and formation of concrete structures to secure drainage in rock armour region; placing of geotextile liner and bedding; and the stacking of large stones uniformly to create rock armour, a stable permanent feature mitigating coastal erosion in the Rampside area.

To facilitate the training of their linesmen, National Grid proposed the construction of a new training overhead line at their training facility at Eakring, Nottinghamshire. The proposal comprised eight new T-Pylon test structures. The line spans approximately 1km over undulating land, which had previously been used for agricultural purposes. In order for this work to be undertaken and for the future maintenance and testing works, enabling works were required, including the provision of access tracks to each pylon locations.

We are accustomed to working with local authorities in road renewal, bridge refurbishment contracts, pedestrianisation projects and city/town centre enhancement programmes.

Through this experience, we know how important it is to deliver projects with minimal disruption to members of the public. Where access through the site needs to be maintained, we understand the additional responsibility to protect members of the general public, as well as our own construction teams, operating to stringent operational safety standards.
